Anujith gives life to 8 people after death
Thiruvananthapuram: Anujith, a 27-year-old who suffered brain death on July 17, turned saviour for 8 people after his death. His organs will save the lives of 8 people as his wife Princy and sister Ajalya took effort to donate his organs.
Anujith met with a bike accident on July 14 near Kottarakkara. He was taken to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital in critical condition and was later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and KIMS. Though the doctors tried their maximum to save his life, he suffered brain death on July 17. The doctors confirmed his brain death through two Apnea tests.
Anujith’s wife Princy and sister Ajalya came forward to donate his organs. His heart, kidneys, eyes, small intestine and hands were donated to save 8 people.
Health Minister K. K. Shailaja appreciated the family who took such a humanitarian step when they were in grief. The Minister also expressed condolences to Anujith’s family.
The organ donation was made through ‘Mrithasanjeevani’ - Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS) of the state government. The organs were taken to the patients with the coordination of the Chief Minister, Health Minister and other departments.
Anuraj’s heart was donated to Tripunithura native Sunny Thomas (55) who is under treatment in Ernakulam. It was a tough task to take the heart to Ernakulam from Thiruvananthapuram. As directed by the Chief Minister, the helicopter rented by the state government was given to carry out the mission.
In 2010, Anujith had made headlines for his timely intervention to avoid a train accident.
Anujith and his friends waved a red basket to alert the loco pilot of a crack on the railway track. With this timely act, Anujith saved the lives of many people. Now, Anujith, son of Sasidharan Pillai and Vijayakumari at Kottarakkara saved the lives of 8 people and brought a smile on the face of their families after his death.
Anujith who was working as a driver at a private enterprise turned a salesman at a supermarket in Kottarakkara following the lockdown. His wife Princy is working as a saleswoman at a jewellery store. The couple has a three-year-old son. His body will be taken to his residence after post-mortem.
