Another biopic in making: Subaida – the mother who adopted her friend’s children
Kalikkavu (Malappuram): 45 years back when Sreedharan was one-year-old, his mother Chakki died. His father had passed away earlier and Chakki was taking care of her children – a son and two daughters, working as a maid. When the mother died and the three children were left alone with no one to take care of, it was Thennadan Subaida of Adakkakkundu, a friend and neighbour of Chakki, who adopted the three and took them to her house.
Sreedharan and his two elder sisters grew up in Subaida’s house along with her three children. While three of them followed Hindu religion, three others followed Islam. Subaida’s husband Asees Haji had been her support in all these.
The story of Subaida came to limelight one year back when she passed away. Sreedharan, now an employee in Oman, had taken to social media and posted an emotional farewell to his adoptive mother.
“My umma has passed away. Please pray for her to be in heaven. My amma had passed away when I was 1. I have two elder sisters. When amma passed away, the same day umma and uppa took us to their home. Since then they looked after us and gave education. They married off my sisters later. Though it is said that an adoptive mother can never be as great as own mother, for me Subaida was not adoptive mother but my own. It pains me that I couldn’t have a last glance of her,” Sreedharan wrote.
Now, it is reported that Subaida’s life story will be on big screen soon. Her sons Shanavaas and Sreedharan are too excited. The movie to be directed by Siddique Paravoor will see actress Surabhi Lakshmi as Subaida.
The switch-on function of the shooting was done by Asees Haji and sons Shanavas and Jafar at their house the other day.
