Adithyan and family gets a home, thanks to Theresian army
Poochakkal: Adithyan, Anjana and their ill mother will soon have a home above their head, thanks to the Theresian army. Adithyan S Nair, a young fifth grade student at the Manappuram St. Theresa's High School was left to fend for himself after his father died 10 years ago. His mother is a bedridden patient who has been suffering from lymphadema and it is Adithyan and his plus two student sister Anjana who manage the house from the meagre earnings they get from distributing newspapers.
The house has been constructed on three cents of land at Ulavyppil, Thykkattusery. Not just a house, they have also arranged for basic home appliances at the place too. The expenses relating to the construction has been borne by the students, parents and several locals and was managed by the Theresiam army. The Mathrubhumi SEED members have also been an active part of the effort. The project that costed around Rs 10 lakhs was completed under the SPARK 2017 program, said the school manager Fr. Joseph Murikkelil. Fr. Vipin Kurisuthara and Uthaman, the PTA president were also actively coordinating the work.
On Tuesday the district collector Veena S Madhavan will hand over the keys to family currently living with the PTA vice- president Mercy Abraham. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Thilothamman will inaugurate the public meeting in the afternoon. The function will be presided over by Johnson Vazhapilly, Director, Rajagiri hospital. MLA Arif will release the special notification and the function will also commemorate the 79th anniversary of the school and organise a send off for the retiring school principal Vimala Isaac.
