Palakkad: When the travails of travelling in line buses are aplenty, students of Akathethara and Malampuzha have a different story to tell. A private bus named ‘Variyath Naivedyam’ connecting Palakkad and Malampuzha provides free travel to students up to 10th standard.
The students of Akathethara UP School and Malampuzha Higher Secondary School are benefited from the service. Akathethara Cheppilamuri native Naivedyathil V Prabhukumar is the owner of the bus. He operates another bus on the Palakkad – Kongad route. “The idea came to my mind when I was thinking of providing free travel to students of my native place.” Prabhukumar said he is also planning to provide ID cards to students.
Conductor Mukesh said as many as 70 students are benefited from the free travel and children from Manthakkad and Malampuzha are mostly utilising the service.
