3 of Kerala’s ‘Pancharatnam’ quintuplets tie knot at Guruvayur temple
Guruvayur: Three girls among Kerala’s ‘Pancharatnam’ quintuplets who became popular through media reports entered wedlock on Saturday at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple. Siblings Uthra, Uthara and Uthama, got married in the auspicious time between 7.45 am and 8.30 am at the same venue in the temple. Their only brother Uthrajan administered the wedding ceremonies.
The three girls are among the five children who were born to Premkumar and Remadevi on November 18, 1995. They are four girls and one boy namely-Uthra, Uthara, Uthama, Uthraja and Uthrajan. The quintuplets are having names starting with the letter U, connecting them to their birth star ‘Uthram’.
Though the marriage of the four sisters was scheduled on the same date, Uthraja’s marriage was postponed as her fiancé who works abroad failed to reach Kerala.
Uthrajan, the only boy among the ‘Pancharathnam’ administered the marriage ceremony as a responsible male member of the family.
The five siblings accompanied by their mother Remadevi reached Guruvayur temple on Friday. They offered a golden anklet to the deity.
“We would love to make offerings to Lord Krishna. Because my five children are his gift. Lord Krishna motivated me to be strong to bring up my children,” said the mother holding the ‘Pancharatnam’.
Uthra who is a fashion designer got married to Ayoor native Ajith Kumar, a manager at a hotel in Muscat. Uthara, a media professional, tied the knot with a mediaperson KB Mahesh Kumar from Kozhikode while Uthama, an anaesthesia technician wedded G Vineeth, an accountant in Muscat.
Uthraja who works as an anaesthesia technician at Amritha hospital in Kochi is engaged to Pathanamthitta native Akash who works in Kuwait in the same profession.
“I wanted to conduct my four daughters’wedding together. But as Akash was unable to fly to Kerala, their wedding got postponed,” said Remadevi.
As their father died during their childhood, their mother faced many challenges to bring them up. Now, the five siblings are settled with a job after completing their studies with flying colours.
