105 yr old woman resumes studies after 97 years, appears for Class 4 equivalency exam
Kollam: K Bhageerathi Amma has set a record in Kerala Literacy Mission’s exam by writing the Class 4 equivalency exam at the age of 105. She holds the credit of the oldest woman who appeared for an exam of the literacy mission.
This great grandmother had dropped her studies at the age of 9. After 97 years, she resumed her studies to appear for the equivalency exam.
The Literacy ‘Prerak’ SN Sherly encouraged Bhageerathi Amma to resume studies and prepare for the exam. Her daughter Thankamani also supported her.
Thrikaruva gramapanchayat president K Chandrasekharan Pillai turned invigilator for the exam.
Bhageerathi Amma is the most senior member of a family which include her 4 daughters, 2 sons and 16 grandchildren.
