Thrissur: Shine Karunakaran, an art teacher and his family have drawn a beautiful mural painting of Thrissur Pooram. Interestingly, the three-member family took joint effort to make the mural painting which is 8 feet wide and 3 feet longh for the new apartment of Kalyan Builders.
They completed the work in their house itself.
Shine is working as an art teacher at Paramekkavu Vidya Mandir. His wife KG Sigma is also an art teacher at Pottore Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and joined Shine to paint the mural painting with their two kids.
Their son CS Navaneeth is a 9th standard student at Puranattukkara Sreeramakrishna School and daughter Sreetheertha is a 5th student at Pottore Bhavan’s School.
The mural painting drawn by the family featured all major events of Thrissur Pooram including ‘Kudamattam’, ‘Upacharam Cholli Piriyal’, ‘Melam’ and ‘Vedikettu’.
At first, Shine sketched the painting. His son Navaneeth and daughter Sreetheertha completed the sketch by adding colours to it.
The two kids used to win prizes for painting competitions at school youth festivals. Sreetheertha is the first prize winner of the painting competition organised by Mathrubhumi Seed. Though Shine’s wife Sigma is a trained painter, she learned mural painting from her husband.
