'Kuvi' won't be left alone in Pettimudy; police officer to take care of her
Thodupuzha (Idukki): When Ajith saw Kuvi for the first time, she was lying behind the lane of houses. She was exhausted from starving. He could not leave her like that as she had already lost her owner's family along with her little friend. With this, he decided to take her with him.
Ajith Madhavan, trainer of the district dog squad and civil police officer, came forward to take care of the pet dog Kuvi that helped to find out the body of 2-year-old Dhanushka who died in the Pettimudy landslide. The dog had been searching for her little friend all over Rajamala for a few days after the mishap. Later, Kuvi succeeded to find the body on the 8th day.
The picture of Kuvi whining and barking near Dhanushka's body was heartbreaking. It was then Ajith went in search of her. He found her starving and tried to feed her. But Kuvi did not take food from him.
As he could not leave her behind, Ajith approached district collector, MP and forest conservation committee for permission to take care of the dog. They have granted him permission to take the dog with him.
Dhanushka's body was found from Gravel Bank which is 4 kilometre away from Pettimudy. The body was found trapped in the tree branches under the hanging bridge. The dog that senses the child's smell was standing at the place since morning.
On seeing the dog at the place for a long time, the officials started searching the place and found the body. Among the owners of Kuvi, only Dhanushka's grandmother Karuppayi is alive.
