‘Daya’ volunteers rescue dog from well
Piravam: A dog trapped inside a well for over 12 hours was rescued by members of a voluntary group called ‘ Daya’ . The dog had fallen into the well at Neelamparakkal Benny’s residence in Ooramana. The incident took place in the wee hours on Monday around 2 am. After hours of long struggle, the volunteers rescued the animal around 2 pm.
The well which has no safety wall is covered with a net. The family came to know about the dog inside the 40-feet deep well after hearing the cries. Though they tried to rescue it, they failed. Following this, they contacted the Fire Force. But the Fire Force official directed them to contact ‘Daya’ and gave their number.
‘Daya’ volunteers Ramesh Pulikkan, Amalesh Vijayan and Ambili Purakkal rescued the dog after an adventurous mission. Ramesh who is the master animal handler of ‘Daya’ trapped the dog inside a special equipment called ‘catch pole’ and rescued it.
Meanwhile, Daya founder member and coordinator Ambili Purakakl raised a sharp criticism against Fire Force for refusing to carry out the mission.
She alleged that the fire force is denying such missions by upholding a fake government order. She also noted that Daya will approach the court over the negligence of fire force which denies protection to volunteers of Daya.
