Youth held with 6.5 kg of ganja to be sold in Kozhikode
Kozhikode: Nallalam police and district anti-narcotics special action force (DANSAF) arrested a youth and seized 6.580 kilograms of ganja from him near here on Saturday evening.
The arrested was identified Sreedharsh (23), a native of Naduvattom in Malappuram district. The ganja was intended to be sold to youngsters and students in Kozhikode city. He was remanded for 14 days.
A police team led by Kozhikode city narcotics cell assistant commissioner Haridas had been following Sreedharsh after learning that he had been selling ganja here in the city.
On Friday night, Nallalam police received information that ganja has been brought to Meenchanda near Areacode in Malappuram district. Acting on the information, a team of policemen led by Nallalam Sub Inspector M. K. Saleem caught Sreedharsh red handed.
When questioned, Sreedharsh said that a Kozhikode native youth who is settled in Bengaluru had been providing ganja for him.
Based on information collected from Sreedharsh, stringent action will be taken against ganja mafia in the coming days, Nallalam police station inspector M. K Suresh Kumar said. “Parents must be alert against the increasing use of narcotic substances among students,” he added.
