Youth hacked to death; 2 friends of main accused found hanging in Kasaragod
Kumbla: An oil mill labourer was found hacked to death on the roadside. Hours later, two friends of the main accused in the case were found hanging, here in Kasaragod district.
Naikap native Hareesh (38) was found dead on Monday midnight. He bled to death on the roadside after being hacked. Kumbla natives Roshan (20), son of Kundankaradukka native Chetan and Gladys and Mani (20), son of Anandan and Prema, were found hanging from two trees on Tuesday evening around 6.30 pm. The bodies were found in a forest which is just 2 km away from their homes.
Police said that they were friends of Sreekumar, the main accused in Hareesh murder case. Sreekumar is the driver of the owner of the mill where Hareesh was working. Sreekumar was taken into police custody on Tuesday night. It is hinted that personal enmity resulted in the murder.
Hareesh had been working at Bhagavathyprasadam oil mill for more than 15 years. Hareesh’s family members tried calling him on his phone on Monday after he did not reach home even after late night. However, there was no response from his end. Hareesh’s friend went searching for him in the mill but could not find him. Later, some pedestrians found Hareesh lying on the roadside, in a pool of blood. On information, the Kumbla police reached the spot. Although Hareesh was taken to the Cooperative hospital and a private hospital in Kasaragod, he had succumbed to his injuries, said Kumbala inspector P. Pramod.
His body was cremated after a postmortem at Kannur Government Hospital. Only after this the police received information about two youths being found hanging.
Hareesh is survived by his wife, Yashwanthini. He has two siblings, Murali and Aswini.
Meanwhile, the bodies of Roshan and Mani are kept in the mortuary of Kasaragod General Hospital.
