Youngsters run into police station by mistake while escaping with cannabis
Kambammettu (Idukki): A group of youngsters who were smuggling cannabis evading the police team ended up running into a police station here on Thursday afternoon. Police arrested four persons including a minor boy in connection with the incident.
The arrested are identified as Adimali native Vineeth (20), Ernakulam native Adarsh (18) and Adimali native Sabir Rahman (22). The minor boy among them happened to run into the police station by mistake. The police seized 3 kilograms of cannabis from them.
The youngsters arrived on two wheelers from Tamil Nadu while vehicle checking was progressing at Kambammettu. The vehicle did not stop even after the police asked to stop them. With this, the Kerala Police, excise and sales taxes department officials jointly chased it and blocked on the border.
The vehicle happened to overturn while trying to escape from the police team. The minor boy and Vineeth ran through a local path to evade the police. Unfortunately, they ran into the police station by mistake. The police found a bag with 2 kilograms of cannabis loaded inside. When both were taken into custody, the others called to the number.
When they were questioned, the youngsters revealed that the other two had already crossed the border. Thus the police tracked Adarsh and Sabir with the help of Cyber Cell and arrested them with 1 kilogram of cannabis. The police measured the seized cannabis in the presence of Udumbanchola Tehsildar. The accused were later produced before the court.
