Woman throws acid on Kerala man, attempts suicide in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a woman attacked a Kerala youth with acid and stabbed him for allegedly betraying her by giving a false marriage promise. After attacking the man who was reportedly in a relationship with her, the woman tried to commit suicide. The youth suffered severe burns near his left eye in the attack.
It is reported that Kanchipuram native P Jayanthi (27) attacked R Rakesh (30) from Kodipuram in Thiruvananthapuram after he stepped back from the relationship with her and tied the knot with another girl. Meanwhile, Jayanthi has also lodged a complaint with police claiming that Rakesh had borrowed Rs 18 lakhs from her.
Jayanthi and Rakesh were colleagues at a spa in Dubai. Both of them were in a live-in relationship after Jayanthi got separated from her husband. Rakesh who returned to Kerala for his sister’s marriage also got married three months ago. But he hid this matter from Jayanthi. Amidst this, Jayanthi also returned to Chennai.
Later, Rakesh sent a message to Jayanthi via WhatsApp asking her to reach the apartment at Peelamedu. When the duo met at the apartment, Jayanthi asked him to marry her. But Rakesh refused to accept her demand and informed her that he is married. After getting provoked by Rakesh's revelation, Jayanthi attacked him with acid which she had kept in her bag.
Police said that Jayanthi had attacked him with a knife too. Later, she tried to kill herself by consuming poison. It was the security in the apartment who took both of them to the Govt Medical college hospital in Coimbatore. Police said that Jayanthi and Rakesh are out of danger now.
Police registered a case against Jayanthi as per the complaint of Rakesh. A case has been registered against Rakesh too based on the complaint of Jayanthi claiming that he had cheated her by borrowing Rs 18 lakhs from her.
