Woman lures businessman to lodge in Munnar, decamps with gold, money
Munnar: Police arrested a woman who was absconding after looting a businessman at a lodge in Munnar. The accused was identified as Vyttila Puthanappally native Meena (32).
It is reported that Meena lured Kochi native Shaji to come to Munnar and took accommodation in a lodge. When he reached the room, Meena and her companions manhandled him and looted his money and jewellery. The incident took place on May 28.
Following the incident, police arrested four tourist guides from Munnar who were hand in glove with Meena. Two people are still absconding.
When Meena and Shaji, the businessman took a room in the lodge, two of her companions broke into their room. Claiming Meena as their sister, the men alleged that Shaji kidnapped her. The other four men entered the room and manhandled Shaji.
After taking Shaji’s belongings, including money, ATM card and gold chain, the six-member gang vanished from the spot. It is reported that they had withdrawn Rs 20,000 from Shaji’s bank account using his ATM card.
Police initiated a probe into the incident after Shaji filed a complaint with Munnar police. Following the probe, police found that the woman conspired and executed the crime.
Munnar colony native Simon (20), his siblings Nibin (18), Subin (20) and Abin (19) were arrested on June 15.
SI KM Santhosh and team arrested Meena, the key accused in the case from her residence at Vyttila on Tuesday morning. She was produced before Devikulam court and remanded in judicial custody.
