Wanted criminal involved in 25 robbery cases arrested from Varkala after 11 years
Varkala: Man who was involved in nearly 25 robbery cases in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts was arrested after 11 years. Noushad (32), a native of Vettur in Varkala, who was arrested the other day from Kundara, was declared as a wanted criminal by the Thiruvananthapuram district court.
Noushad robbed at places under the jurisdictions of Varkala, Kadaykkavoor, Chirayinkeezhu, Pallickal, Parippally and Paravoor police stations between 2006 and 2009. He used to rob along with a gang.
On April 2, 2007, Noushad who came on a bike snatched the 5 sovereign gold chain of Haseena, a native of Varkala. On June 30, 2007, he robbed Rs 7000, a mobile phone and a gold chain from Lukeman, a native of Ayiroor after hacking him with a machete. On June 5, 2007, Noushad had robbed Rs 61,000 from a petrol pump at Chavarkode after holding the manager captive. Noushad was involved in many other cases besides these.
Noushad was arrested by Rural SP B Ashok based on a tip off. Nearly 10 warrants against him were issued by the district court, Varkala, Attingal and Paravoor courts. He was remanded by the court.
Though he was arrested in 2008, Noushad escaped after getting a bail. Meantime, he worked in Gujrat for a period. When arrested, he was living with a woman at Kundara after abandoning his wife.
