Venjaramoodu twin murder: Probe team conducts evidence collection at 2 AM
Thiruvananthapuram: The police team probing the Venjaramoodu twin murder case took the key accused for evidence collection at 2 AM on Sunday. According to police, they decided to conduct the evidence collection in the wee hours due to security reasons.
On Sunday around 2 AM, the police took the accused for evidence collection at Thembamoodu. The evidence collection was carried out under tight security as the intelligence has reported chances of unpleasant incidents in the area.
Earlier, the evidence collection with the accused was scheduled on Friday. But the probe team postponed it as DYFI state leaders were holding a protest programme at the murder spot.
Evidence collection was carried out at Thembamoodu junction, Muthikkavu farmhouse, Mankuzhi and places from where weapons were bought.
After hacking the duo, Sajeev and Unni escaped on a two-wheeler from the spot to Mulankadu Mankuzhi area. The duo planned to leave for Tamil Nadu via Nedumangadu. But when they reached Mankuzhi, the vehicle stopped as there was no petrol. Police also nabbed two people who purchased petrol for the accused. Among them, one person did not know about the murder and he was released.
Later, Sajeev and Unni reached Madapuram. The duo was nabbed when they tried to leave the district.
The accused repeated the statement that they attacked Mithilaj and Haq Muhammad taking revenge on an attack that took place on August 27. It is reported that the victims attacked an autorickshaw in which the accused were travelling.
During the interrogation, they confessed that they did not lodge a complaint against Mithilaj and Haq as they vowed to take revenge on them. They conspired the murder at a farmhouse in Muthikavu and the premises of Sanal’s house.
At present, the police are investigating the case based on the phone records of the accused and victims.
