Uthra murder case: Suraj received viper from snake catcher near his house
Kollam: In the Uthra murder case, the snake catcher had handed over the viper to the victim’s husband and first accused Suraj near the latter’s house in Parakode, the forest department has found.
Snake catcher Suresh had brought the viper to Suraj’s house at Parakode in a car on February 26. The cobra was handed over to Suraj at Enath on March 7.
Suraj received training in handling the snake. Social media was also used for this purpose, the forest department officials said. All three accused, arrested in connection with the case are cooperating with the investigation, the department said.
Evidence collection in the case registered by the forest department, in connection with the murder of Uthra, was held today.
The forest department had registered three cases in connection with the murder of Uthra under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Procedures under section 931 are progressing now.
The charges registered against the accused include hunting and capturing a wild animal, illegal possession of the animal and using the animal for murder.
The forest department will question Suraj’s mother and sister in connection with the case. Both have been summoned to the department office.
