Uthra murder case: Suraj conspired to claim insurance money
Kollam: The investigation into the controversial Uthra murder case entered a twist after police got information on Uthra’s life insurance policy. It is hinted that Suraj, Uthra’s husband who killed her, also aimed to grab the huge amount of insurance money.
Police have received hints which revealed that a life insurance policy of a huge amount was taken on Uthra’s name.
However, police did not recover the documents of the insurance policy. But the probe team discussed the matter with Uthra’s family.
It is hinted that the insurance policy was taken a few months before Uthra’s death.
Earlier, police confirmed that the accused conspired and killed Uthra for financial gains.
Meanwhile, the custody period of the accused will expire on Saturday. It is reported that the police will approach the court seeking custody of the duo for five more days. At the same time, the forest department will also request for the custody of the two accused. The forest department registered four cases against the duo.
However, it is assumed that the snake catcher Suresh Kumar, who is the second accused, will be named as an approver in the case. He was booked for distributing the weapon for murder as he sold the snakes to Suraj. At the same time, police assume that though Suresh was unaware of Suraj’s purpose when he purchased the viper snake, he knew the conspiracy while selling the cobra.
