Uthra murder case: Police search for sedative
Kottarakkara: In the controversial Uthra murder case, accused Sooraj confessed that he had given a sedative pill to Uthra in his second attempt to kill her using snake. In his statement to police, he said that the sedative was administrated to her as she woke up after the first snake bite.
On the basis of this statement, police interrogated the medical store owner to identify the sedative pill.
Suraj revealed that six Dolo tablets were mixed in the payasam served to Uthra on the day when she suffered a viper snake bite at the residence in Adoor.
At first the viper snake did not bite Uthra when Suraj threw it on her. To succeed in the mission, he tortured the snake with a metal object to make it bite Uthra.
Though the snake bit Uthra over her clothes, she was injured and woke up from sleep. She also told Suraj that something bit her and later fell asleep. But as the pain became sever, she woke up again and cried aloud.
Suraj opted cobra snake for the second murder attempt after realizing that cobra gets provoked easily and bites fast.
In his statement, he revealed that he mixed sedative in juice and served to Uthra. It is reported that police are not convinced with his statement.
The juice will taste bitter if eight tablets are mixed in it. A chemical test is needed to confirm the tablet.
Suresh, the second accused in the case, identified the snake that was killed inside Uthra’s bedroom as the one which he sold to Suraj after the pics appeared on social media. Though his family asked him to inform the matter to police, he was not ready for it.
According to police, Suraj tried to escape from the case after observing the statements against him in a TV channel. It is assumed that Suraj is trying to mislead the investigation while continuing in custody. Police suspect that he is raising allegations and gets emotional during interrogation as part of this plan.
