Tvm gang rape: Victim's son gives crucial statement against the accused
Thiruvananthapuram: The five-year-old son of the Thiruvananthapuram gang rape victim has given statement against the accused in the case, including his father. The child said that he witnessed his mother being attacked by the accused and that he was pushed to the ground when cried.
Apart from molestation charges, police have also charged the accused with POCSO charges. Police said that the statement of the child is extremely significant in the case. Meanwhile, the woman stated that her husband is addicted to drugs and that he had forced her to drink alcohol several times.
Police have collected her bag, shawl and footwear from where the incident took place. The accused will be presented at the court on Saturday via video conferencing.
Police have taken seven people into custody in connection with the case. Apart from the woman’s husband, Mansoor(41), Akbar Shah (20), Arshad (35), Naufal Shah (27), Ansar (33) and Rajan Sebastian have been nabbed by the police.
The molestation was orchestrated by the victim’s husband. He brought woman and their two children to the house of Rajan Sebastian under the pretext of going to the beach. There, the husband and friends forced the woman to drink alcohol.
She ran from the house with her eldest son when one of her husband’s friends tried to attack her. However, she was taken to a forest in an auto rickshaw and was molested by the culprits.
She was attacked and subjected to brutal molestation in front of her son.
The woman said she managed to escape with her five-year-old son and hitched a ride home in a car she came across, on the road.
The two young men, who helped her escape, said: "We were driving down the road when we saw the half-naked woman waving at us. We helped her board another car to return to home. We insisted that she complain to the police."
