Thrikkakkara Municipality involved in mass culling of stray dogs, finds Amicus Curiae
Kochi: The Amicus Curiae has found that the Thrikkakkara Municipality was involved in the mass culling of stray dogs. The amicus curiae will file a report on this in the high court on Friday. The accused involved in the case have also given statements against the municipality.
Meanwhile, investigating officers will question junior health inspector Saji Kumar. He was served a notice directing to appear before the probe team. The four arrested in the case had testified that they were instructed by Saji Kumar to kill the dogs.
There are reports that some public representatives have shown places where dogs are found in large numbers. The dogs were trapped and poisoned without even following with the High Court order to sterilize the dogs though the municipality has all the facilities for scientific sterilization.
It is alleged that the municipality also paid the dog catchers. The probe team has also received evidence in this regard. The probe team will look into the source of money paid to the dog catchers.
