Three fake doctors from Telangana held in Kollam
Anchal (Kollam): Police arrested three fake doctors from Telangana after around 100 people from Eroor here, who were under their treatment, developed kidney and liver ailments.
Investigation is on to arrest five more who have reportedly escaped to Telangana. Following complaints from local residents, police led by the Eroor CI is investigating to find the other fake doctors.
It is learned that a team of six fake doctors from Telangana and two women are behind the fraud. They were arrested while planning to commit a similar fraud in Kottayam.
The fake doctors have been camping at different areas in Kerala under the pretext of traditional doctors. They were charging anywhere between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000 for a day’s treatment. After providing treatment at one area for about a month, the fake doctors would move to a new area to avoid being caught.
Investigations revealed that an eight-member team from Telangana including two women was behind the fraud. Among them six are fake doctors while two women were the wives of two of the quacks.
As police intensified investigations, the other five fraudsters reportedly escaped to Telangana.
