Thodupuzha boy's murder: Relatives file complaint over suspicion of father's death
Neyyattinkara (Thiruvananthapuram): After the death of a young boy due to torture by his mother's friend in Thodupuzha last year, the case has taken a different turn involving the child's deceased father.
Suspicion has been raised in connection with the death of Manakkad Kallattumukku native B R Biju (38), the child's father. On the basis of the statement of the younger child, the Crime Branch exhumed Biju's body and conducted a re-postmortem.
Soon after Biju's death, his elder son Aryan (7) died as he was brutally tortured by their relative Arun Anand, who was also a friend of Biju's wife. Arun is serving his jail term in the case. Meanwhile, suspicions grew that Biju's death also could be a murder.
B R Biju, son of Manakkad native N D Babu and Ramani, died on May 23, 2018, at the house in Thodupuzha Karimannoor. Biju was working as a programmer in Techno Park in Aluva. He was living in the house in Karimannoor with his wife Anjana Dinesh and children Aryan and Arush.
On the day of death, Biju suffered a chest pain and died by the time he was hospitalised. The body was subjected to postmortem in Thodupuzha taluk hospital before burial in Neyyattinkara.
Biju's younger son Arush (5) has stated that his mother had given a glass of milk to father on the day of his death and he started feeling chest pain after this. The relatives alleged that Biju might have been murdered with poisoned milk. Following this, his grave at Arangamugal was exhumed.
After Biju's death, his wife Anjana and two children were staying with his relative Arun Anand. Later, Arun hit Aryan against a wall in their house in Thodupuzha on March 27, 2019. The boy was in critical condition after this torture and succumbed to injuries on April 6.
Karimannoor police had arrested Arun in connection with the case and he has been imprisoned. They also arrested Anjana for destroying evidences. Later, she was released on bail. Biju's parents filed complaint to the chief minister and DGP raising suspicion in Biju's death.
Following this, the case was handed over to Crime Branch and they decided to conduct the re-postmortem. The probe team made it clear the cause of death will be known after performing more tests.
