Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister KK Shailaja has sought a report in the case in which a girl, who was placed under temporary foster care, was raped.
The minister has instructed the Women and Child Welfare Department Director to file a report after conducting a detailed study.
The minister informed through a press release that the girl will be provided all kinds of legal protection and that strict action will be taken against the culprits. An investigation will also be conducted on whether there have been lapses by the former Child Welfare Committee in Ernakulam in the girl being adopted.
CG Sasikumar was arrested for raping the girl that he adopted on January 8. The incident took place in 2017 when the girl was only 15 years old. The sister of the victim, who is staying at an orphanage, revealed about the incident during a counseling session.
