Swapna Suresh allegedly destroyed evidence before shifting to new house
Thiruvananthapuram: The NIA team probing the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case has recovered crucial evidence from the old house of second accused Swapna Suresh, hinted reports.
It is learned that the probe team got the evidence which reveals the conspiracy in the gold smuggling. Meanwhile, NIA suspects that Swapna had destroyed some evidence before shifting to a new house.
Swapna and her family occupied a rented house at PTP Nagar here for more than one and half years. Talking to Mathrubhumi News, her neighbours revealed that many complaints were raised against Swapna during this period.
Swapna and family lived at PTP Nagar for 22 months. She often received many guests late in the night. Sandeep, Sarith and former IT secretary M. Sivasankar were among the guests at Swapna’s residence. Sivasankar used to visit her in his official vehicle. Neighbours told that Swapna lied to many people that her husband is a deputy collector and convinced some others that he was an IT professional.
The Residence Association secretary said that Swapna vacated the house at PTP Nagar on May 30.
Her neighbours also revealed that late-night parties were often conducted at her residence. The residence association also restricted her from hosting such parties.
Some people reported that they found Swapna and her husband burning some papers before vacating the rented house.
“They set ablaze some papers and documents in two days. When we asked about it, they told us they are burning some household waste. Her life was really mysterious,” said the neighbours.
Hence, it is suspected that Swapna destroyed the evidence related to gold smuggling before shifting to her new house. The probe team will carry out a detailed investigation into this matter.
