SI takes sack of rice to police mess without paying, threatens shopkeeper, says complaint
Thodupuzha: A Sub Inspector reportedly threatened a shopkeeper who asked for cash after the officer bought a sack of rice.
The complaint is against a Grade SI attached to a police station situated in a popular tourist spot in Idukki district.
The SI bought a sack of rice for the station mess from a noted shop in the town. The shop did not have much sales due to the lockdown and the shopkeeper asked SI for payment. However, the officer reportedly threatened him, the complaint said.
On reaching the mess, the SI told everyone that the rice was gifted to him by a person.
Other officers at the station came to know about the incident only after the shopkeeper filed a complaint. The special branch is probing the matter.
