Shamna Kasim blackmailing case: Model Meera dismisses allegations on links with accused
Kochi: Model Meera dismissed the allegations claiming that she has links with the gang who blackmailed actress Shamna Kasim to extort money. Meera asserted that she was not a middlewoman in the cheating of many models.
At the same time, Meera noted that she only handed over a phone number given by the Kochi based model coordinator to a friend. Meera revealed the matter while addressing Mathrubhumi News here on Monday.
"I have revealed all matters related to the case to police officials, including the DCP. The model coordinator in Kochi got the contact number of the accused through a WhatsApp group. As I had another shooting, I gave that number to my friend. As there were some issues in Palakkad, they were asked to return soon," Meera explained.
The young women who got trapped by the gang revealed that they got the contact number of the accused through Meera. The gang took the women, who are employed in modelling and event management fields, to Palakkad after convincing them that they got work there. After reaching Palakkad, the accused forced them to take part in gold smuggling and looted money and gold from them.
Meanwhile, the probe into the blackmailing case has been extended to the Malayalam film industry after the phone numbers of some actors were recovered from the phones of the accused. Following this, police interrogated actors including Dharmajan Bolgatty on Monday. Dharmajan responded that he has no clue on how the accused got his number.
Meanwhile, police arrested makeup artist Harris, one among the key accused in the case on Monday.
