Alappuzha: A houseboat staff was arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a British woman. The arrested is identified as Cherthala Pattanakkad native Anjalose (38).

According to police, the woman was in search for a massaging centre and Anjalose took her to the house boat after convinced her that he is a professional.

But he tried to misbehave with the woman and she strongly resisted the attempt. She immediately went back and informed the matter to the resort authorities where she was staying.

Meanwhile, she also informed the British Embassy. The information was then passed from the office of Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam to the Chief Minister’s Office, and later forwarded to Alappuzha District Collector T. V. Anupama. The collector immediately sent the tourism officials to the spot. Tourism Department Deputy Director P. Abhilash and DTPC Secretary M. Malin inquired about the complaint.

Police also reached the spot as informed by the resort officials. A team of police officers headed by North Sub-Inspector V R Sivakumar took all three employees in the houseboat. Anjalose was arrested after questioning them.
