Sandeep Nair reveals more about gold smuggling during lockdown; NIA to question Ramees
Kochi: A special court here on Tuesday granted NIA the custody of K. T. Ramees, accused in the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case. Though the National Investigation Agency sought his custody for 10 days, the court granted only 7 days.
In the plea seeking the custody of Ramees, NIA argued that Ramees and his gang smuggled in gold in large quantities during the lockdown period. NIA got the crucial information from Sandeep Nair’s statement. Following this, NIA informed the court that they need to interrogate Ramees.
In his statements given to the NIA, Sandeep revealed that Ramees has close links with highly placed individuals abroad and that he is always accompanied by a gang. NIA assumes that more details in this regard can be retrieved while questioning Ramees.
