Rs 13.65 lakh petrol pump money robbed on way to bank in Alappuzha
Kalavoor (Alappuzha): Rs 13.65 lakh was robbed from a petrol pump staff while he was carrying it to deposit in the bank. The incident took place near Kalavoor block junction on the national highway on Monday afternoon. The money from Natesh Fuels was robbed by two anonymous persons.
Ponnappan (67), a staff of the petrol pump, was carrying the money in a bag on his cycle to the bank. Meanwhile, two persons were standing by the road near block junction. One of them stopped the cycle and snatched the bag. The robbers rode to Cherthala direction after this, it is stated in the complaint filed with the police.
Ponnappan told the police that he could not notice the number of the bike as he was shocked with the sudden happening. The robbers were wearing jacket and helmet. They did not hurt Ponnappan. The money collected on Saturday and Sunday was being taken to the bank.
Police led by Mannanchery SHO Ravi Santhosh initiated a probe into the incident. It is learnt that two people were roaming around the pump on a bike since 10 am. So, they might have noticed money being taken from the pump. Police are also trying to get CCTV visuals.
