Paravoor: Notorious robber Jose alias Motta Jose, who had been breaking into nearby houses near the railway station here, giving sleepless nights to both the residents and police, was captured.
Following repeated robberies, local residents had set up squads and were standing guard in shifts to capture Jose. Around 12.30 on Thursday night, Jose landed in front of a group of youngsters waiting at Kallumkunnu area out of nowhere.
On seeing the residents, Jose tried to run away into the cover of darkness. The youngsters chased him and captured him from the compound of a house on the north side of Paravoor railway station.
The residents overpowered Jose and immediately tied his arms and legs with the lungi the notorious robber was wearing. They then alerted the police and handed Motta Jose over to the officials. Police handcuffed him and took him to the station in a jeep after considerable effort.
Even when he was caught, Jose was carrying several gold ornaments believed to be stolen from the area, youngsters who captured the robber said.
Mathrubhumi.com had carried the story of Motta Jose, who had escaped from the police and residents after robbing several houses while staying in a locked house on the north side of Paravoor railway station for several days. He had pasted a wall poster on the house asking the owner to keep valuables and cash for him.
