Pollachi: As many as 150 students including 90 Keralite students were nabbed on Friday from an unlicensed resort situated in the middle of a coconut farm at Sethumada near Anamala in Pollachi for participating in a rave party using an overflow of drugs.
The party was arranged through social media.The students gathered here through 13 WhatsApp groups named ‘Sakthiman’. Besides students, police arrested six persons, including farm owner Ganesh and resort staff.
A case has been filed against 10 people including the one who arranged the party. Students came to resort on bikes and cars on Friday evening. By midnight, the party reached its zenith with loud music and dance. All were drunk.
Heroin, cocaine and ganja were served at the party. After getting drunk, the party also witnessed some heated arguments between participants. Following that, people in the neighbouring areas and houses informed the police chief. Police took them all into custody. On seeing the arrival of police, a few students escaped in their vehicles.
Organisers of the party charged Rs 1,200 per head. Kerala students who study in Coimbatore had attended the party in large numbers and were arrested.
The case is being investigated under the leadership of district police chief Sujith Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vivekanandan. Raids were carried out at other resorts in the area and bikes and cars in which students arrived here were seized.
