Pathanamthitta: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started its investigation in the Popular Finance financial scam.
As part of this, the ED collected documents and evidence from police. Pathanamthitta district police chief KG Simon told the media that police handed over the evidence and documents to ED in this regard.
ED has collected the documents in connection with the land and financial transactions of the accused and copies of the electronic evidence from the police. It is reported that ED officials will interrogate the accused in the coming days.
Meanwhile, police have found that the remaining assets of the company owners are worth Rs 125 crores. Apart from Vakayar in Konni, they had made investments in Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
It is reported that they sold off their apartments in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi at a small price before fleeing. They bought land in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh apart from Kerala. The other day, police took into custody the 10 luxury vehicles registered under their names.
Police want custody of the accused again as it has been found that there was a huge conspiracy behind the financial scam. Police will demand custody of the accused when they will be presented in the court on Monday.
