Police refuse to give way to speeding bus; case booked against bus employees
Koyilandy: Police booked a case against private bus employees for alleged misbehaviour towards a DySP who thwarted a road race by speeding buses here in Koyilandy.
The bus named Galaxy was taken into police custody. The police registered a case against the bus driver Sajir Mansil Saheer (34) and conductor Abubackar (40) as per the complaint lodged by Thamarassery DySP K P Abdul Razak.
The incident happened at Chemancheri on Wednesday morning. Thamarassery DySP K.P. Abdul Razak was on his way to Vadakara. When the jeep reached Thiruvangoor, the speeding bus began honking and the cleaner started to bang on the door incessantly in an attempt to overtake the jeep.
"But the police jeep could not give way due to the stream of vehicles coming in the opposite direction," said DySP. But when the bus kept on honking continuously, the police blocked the vehicle on the middle of the road at Chengottukavu town. The bus driver and conductor alighted from the bus and behaved rudely with the police officer.
They accused the DySP of being drunk. The locals crowded at the spot and on coming to know about the truth, turned against the bus employees. By then the DySP informed the matter to the concerned officials and the highway police arrived and seized the bus. "The police filed a case against the employees of the bus for disrupting official duty," police said.
Police said that despite knowing it was a police vehicle some private bus employees behave in this manner. Imagine what would be the approach of these private buses towards ordinary people.
