Police clueless as chilli powder attacks on women continue
Nilambur (Malappuram): More incidents of attacks on women after throwing chilli powder in their eyes have been reported again.
In the latest event, Anseera, wife of Vettekkod native Kabeer, and Divya, wife of Unnikulam native Suresh, were attacked by an unidentified person on Tuesday around 7.30 pm. Both women were attacked at their houses. Even when similar incidents are reported frequently, the police are yet to find any clues.
An unidentified person threw chilli powder on Anseera's face when she was about to get into the house after taking a bath in a bathroom outside the house. As she cried aloud in fear, the man kicked her down. Neighbours, who gathered at the spot on hearing her cry, could not find anyone on the premises. Kabeer said that they had found chilli powder sprinkled near the bathroom three days ago. Nilambur police arrived at the spot and started an investigation.
Amarambalam Unnikulam native Suresh's wife Divya also was attacked in the similar manner. As the family spotted light in the coconut plantation behind the house, Suresh and a neighbour went there to search. Meanwhile, Divya, who was standing near the kitchen, was attacked. The attacker threw chilli powder in her eyes and hit her on the head. She was rushed to the hospital. It is said that someone had thrown chilli powder on Divya two weeks ago. Pookkottumpadam police arrived at the spot and started investigation.
Despite numerous similar incidents, the police are clueless regarding the culprits or their motive. The local residents had been staying awake at night to catch the attacker at night. However, they could not find anyone. People from the area requested the police to take action against anti-socials who are engaged in such activities claiming to be black-man. Police have assured to take action.
