Thiruvananthapuram: Two Rajasthani men were arrested in connection with a honey trap case registered here. The arrested persons are identified as Nahar Singh and Sukhdev Singh from Kaman of Rajasthan. Thiruvananthapuram city cyber police arrested them from Rajasthan for swindling money from a Thiruvananthapuram native man through honey trap.
The accused started friendship with the complainant through a fake profile pretending to be a college student named Ankitha Sharma. They continuously chatted with the man and sent audio messages and pictures to him. Later, they enticed him to send his nude photos. Shortly after the man sent his nude pictures, the accused started blackmailing him.
They threatened that the pictures will be circulated through social media and will file a complaint to the police. Thus they managed to get about Rs 10,000 from him via e-wallets. After the man complained to the police, they focused on Facebook, WhatsApp and e-wallet addresses of the accused and identified their location at Bharatpur in Rajasthan.
With this, the police went to Rajasthan and traced the culprits using technologies like geo mapping with the help of Rajasthan police. They said that the accused used pictures of random girls from social media for the fraudulent activities. They were operating from border areas of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
