Police arrest one in Mansoor murder case; 12 League activists also booked for attack on CPM offices
Kannur: An arrest has been recorded in the Panoor Mansoor murder case. Police have recorded the arrest of CPM member Shinos, who was in custody.
12 Muslim League activists were also arrested by Chokli police in connection with the attacks on CPM offices the other day.
The district collector has convened an all-party peace meeting considering the law and order situation at the Collectorate at 11 am on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the CPM leaders visited the party offices that were vandalized the other day. CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan, MV Jayarajan and others visited the offices on Wednesday. MV Jayarajan alleged that the attacks by Muslim League was preplanned.
CPM offices were vandalized during the mourning rally carrying Mansoor’s body from Monthal. CPM Peringathoor local committee office on Bavachi Road, Peringathoor branch office and local committee office near Achumukku were vandalized and set on fire.
The Eranjeenkeezhu EMS memorial library in Kadavathoor and Krishnapillai Mandir branch office were also set on fire. The DYFI Peringalam treasurer KP Suhail’s house was also attacked. The martyr mandapam, flag posts of CPM and a few shops in the town were also destroyed.
