Plus One student held for sharing phone numbers, photos of classmates, teachers on adult site
Thiruvananthapuram: The police have arrested a Plus One student who allegedly shared the personal details of classmates and teachers on an adult website. A student of a school in Thiruvananthapuram was held. The police nabbed the boy after a month-long investigation.
The boy had shared the photos and phone numbers of his classmates and teachers on an adult website based in Canada. He collected the photos and phone numbers from the WhatsApp group created for online classes.
The students and teachers lodged a complaint with police after they started to receive calls from foreign countries and North India. Following this, cyber police carried out a probe and arrested the boy.
In the photos shared with the Canadian website, the classmates and teachers were seen attending the online classes. Noticing this, police concluded that a student from the school is responsible for this. Thus the police traced the accused after examining their mobile phones and other gadgets.
While chatting with the strangers on the adult chat website, the accused used to share the photos of the teachers and other students and introduce himself as the person in the photo, said Hi-Tech Cell chief ES Biju Menon.
After arresting the boy, police sent him for counselling. Cyber police are going to take action against the website which operates without following the safety protocol.
