Kasaragod: The police have taken Saji George, who was arrested in the Periya double murder case, into custody for six days.
The Hosdurg first class magistrate court issued an order to this effect following a petition from the police seeking to take Saji George in custody for detailed questioning and investigation.
The police had earlier found that it was Saji, who had driven the car in which the accused travelled. Following this, Saji was arrested on Wednesday night. As Saji was an accused directly involved in the case, scientific tests and detailed evidence collection must take place. Citing these needs, the police approached the court seeking to take Saji in custody.
Earlier, CPM local committee member Peethambaran was arrested in connection with the murder of Youth Congress activists Kripesh and Sarath Lal. Peethambaran is under seven day police custody. It is learned that the police will record the arrests of several more accused by Thursday evening. The police are subjecting the accused to intense questioning.
