Periya double murder: Court grants police 7-day custody of Peethambaran
Kasaragod: The police have taken Peethambaran, the CPM local committee member, who was arrested in the Periya double murder case under custody for seven days.
Peethambaran, who was arrested on Tuesday, was presented before the Hosdurg first class magistrate court on Wednesday.
The police had requested the court to grant permission to take Peethambaran under custody for further investigation and questioning in connection with the murder of two Youth Congress activists Sarath Lal and Kripesh.
The court observed that the double murder was a shocking crime and that political rivalry resulted in the killings.
On Wednesday morning, the police had taken Peethambaran to the murder spot for evidence collection. The officials had recovered two iron rods and a machete from the spot.
