Kannur: More revelations are coming out in the Parassinikkadavu gang rape case. Investigations have revealed that the accused have sexually assaulted a fried of the victim.

In her statement given to the women police, the class 12 girl said she was sexually assaulted. Based on the girl’s complaint, Kannur town police arrested Adarsh, a native of Kolacherry. Police suspect that there are more victims in the case.

The first victim, a class 10 girl was, gang-raped inside a private lodge in Parassinikkadavu on November 13. The police had arrested 12 persons, including Nikhil Thaliyil, a DYFI local leader from Anthoor besides the girl’s father. The police have named 19 persons as accused in the case. As many as 16 cases have been registered at various police stations in connection with the incident.

Initially, the Thalipparmbu police had arrested five, including KV Sandeep (31) of Mattool, CP Shamsudheen (37) of Chorukkala, Ayoob (32) of Naduvil, Shabir (36) of Parippayi and Pavithran (38), receptionist of the Parassinikkadavu, park tourist home. Later, the police arrested the others including Nikhil and the girl’s father.

Pavithran was booked for making arrangements at the lodge for the accused while Nikhil was booked under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Sandeep had taken the girl to the tourist home.

Incidentally, Nikhil had participated in the protest march to the lodge after the incident came to light. Abduction, rape and POCSO are the charges registered against the others.
