Nurse killed by husband: Malayalis in US join hands for little Nora
Kozhikode: Various Malayali organizations in the US have extended support to the family of Merin, who was killed by her husband. They are working on raising financial aid for Merin’s two-year-old daughter Nora for her future.
Knanaya Catholic Congress of North America (KCCNA) in association with Federation of Malayali Association of America (FOMAA), Federation of Kerala Associations in North America (FOKANA), Nursing Association of South Florida is collecting money through crowd funding in the website ‘GoFundMe’.
The money will be used for Nora’s education and future. The crowd funding was started with permission from Merin’s family. A trust will be formed and the child’s expenditure will be met through it. "We are aiming at 1 lakh dollars. Within the first few hours itself, we managed to collect $10,000,” said FOMAA President Philip Chamathil.
Monippally native Merin Joy (28) was stabbed to death by her husband Philip Mathew (34) on Tuesday in South Florida, USA. Police arrested Philip, who is from Veliyanad, on charges of first degree murder.
Their two-year-old daughter Nora was with Merin's parents back home at Monippally. Merin had left Nora with her parents the last time she visited them in December 2019.
