Notorious robber Motta Jose uses locked house as hideout, pastes wall poster for owner
Paravur: A miscreant, who broke into a locked house and had been using it as a hideout while breaking into other houses in the area, escaped from police. Officials said the man was a notorious robber Motta Jose.
Jose had broken into a house named Anugraha at Punchirakkulam, located on the north side of Paravur railway station. Local residents were on high alert following robbery attempt at a house in Punchirakkulam four days ago and a robbery at a house in Dayabji Mukku where 50 sovereigns of gold and Rs 50,000 were looted.
Meanwhile, some of the youth in the area noticed a man climbing and jumping over the compound wall of the house in Punchirakkulam. They alerted other people and surrounded the house. On information, police came to the spot.
While officials entered the house through the front gate and were inspecting, a man came out of the house, jumped over the wall and escaped. Police and local residents gave a chase but in vain. Police identified the man as notorious robber Motta Jose. Police searched the area the whole night but could not find him.
Police inspected the house. The house belonged to retired army officer Subaidar Major Sreekumar. He had been staying in Chennai with family. Jose had broken the main gate and door of the house which were locked to enter. Police assume that Jose had been staying there for at least one weak.
The rooms were covered with urine, feces, food waste and liquor bottles. Jose had also used the kitchen to cook food. Based on information from his relatives, house owner Sreekumar came to the spot on Monday afternoon. Forensic and fingerprint experts will examine the house on Tuesday.
Robber's wall poster for owner
Jose had pasted a poster on the wall of the house carrying a message for the owner. The robber demanded the owner to keep cash and gold inside so that he could take them next time when he enters the house. The robber also asked the owner to leave after locking the doors and gate of the house.
