NIA court finds 6 guilty in Kanakamala case
Kochi: The six accused in the Kanakamala IS case were pronounced guilty by the Kochi NIA Court. Swalih Mohammad, Rashid, Ramshad, Nangeelan, Swafan, Subahani Haja Moideen were named accused in the case. The court charged UAPA against the six. Meanwhile, the sixth accused in the case Jasim was acquitted by the court.
They were arrested for conspiring and planning an attack in Kanakamala, Kannur in October, 2016. They were also charged of alleged links with international terrorist organisation ISIS.
Another accused in the case Sajeer is reported to have been shot dead in Afghanistan. 70 witnesses were testified in connection with the case. NIA submitted the charge sheet after charging the accused with treason, conspiracy and other sections of UAPA.
