NIA arrests Swapna, Sandeep amid plans to flee to Nagaland
Kochi: Gold smuggling case suspects Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair were arrested while they were planning to move to Nagaland. They were making plans to go from Bengaluru to a resort owned by Sandeep's friend in Nagaland. But their phone calls were traced by then and the NIA team arrested both from Bengaluru.
Swapna and Sandeep reached Bengaluru in S-Cross car. First they rented a room at a hotel in BTM Layout and then shifted to Octave hotel in Koramangala fearing they would be identified. They booked rooms via online at both hotels. They checked-in at Octave hotel by 6.30 pm. But the NIA team arrested them within 30 minutes.
The NIA also seized the passports and Rs 2 lakh from the accused. They were arrested on Saturday by 7 pm and were interrogated till daybreak next day. Following this, the NIA set out to Kerala with the culprits, as per reports.
