Kayamkulam: Police nabbed two more accused in connection with the incident in which a man was brutally murdered by a gang who knocked down and ran him over using a car. Kayamkulam natives Sahil and Ajmal were nabbed in the wee hours of Friday from Salem railway station with the help of Railway Protection Force. With this, all three accused in the case are in custody.
The deceased was identified as Shameer Khan, a native of Kareelakulangara near Kayamkulam. Shiyas, prime accused in the case was nabbed on Wednesday. The incident was reportedly the result of a dispute at a bar.
The murder took place near a bar at Chirakkadavu here on Tuesday on the side of the national highway. Shameer got into an argument with a group of people inside the bar. After reaching an agreement with the others, Shameer was returning home on this two wheeler.
Meanwhile, a group of people involved in the argument led by Shiyas followed Shameer in a car and knocked him down near the bar. Shameer fell on the road. Shiyas ran the car over Shameer’s head killing him on the spot.
Following the incident, the accused escaped to Thiruvananthapuram. Police caught them from Kilimanoor and seized the car in which they were travelling. Police said that Ajmal is an accused in another criminal case.
Shameer Khan, who was working abroad, had come to Kerala only a week ago. His family members had fixed his marriage with a woman from Bharanikkavu on September 8.
