Murder of Peringara local secretary: CPM dismisses police version of ‘personal dispute’
Thiruvalla: CPM district leadership has dismissed the police version on the murder of PB Sandeep Kumar, CPM local secretary in Peringara. According to Pathanamthitta district secretariat member Sanal Kumar, the police version of ‘personal dispute’ is mere a cooked up story.
Police sources said that Jishnu, one of the accused, had issues with Sandeep as the latter had tried to dismiss Jishnu's mother from the Kerala government’s Travancore Sugars and Chemicals Ltd. However, CPM district leadership claimed that CDS is in charge of the appointment and the party has no information that both had any feud. Sanal said that in his understanding, Jishnu’s mother is still working as a temporary staff in the sugar factory.
Sandeep was murdered at around 8.30 PM on Thursday. Police said there were 11 stab wounds on the body of the victim who died before reaching a hospital.
The CPM state secretariat issued a statement blaming the RSS and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. Sandeep was attacked near Nedumpuram Chathankary Mukk. A five-member group arrived on three bikes, blocked him and stabbed him on his neck and chest. He then jumped to the nearby paddy field. However, attackers followed and stabbed him again.
In this case, police have nabbed four. Jishnu (23), Nandu, Pramod and Faisal were arrested from Karuvatta, Alappuzha, police said. Abhi, the fifth person who police believe was part of the gang that murdered Sandeep, is still absconding.
