Murder of one-month-old baby by father was pre-planned: police
Thiruvananthapuram: The murder of 40- day- old baby by the father in Thiruvananthapuram was motivated by family problems, police said. Police took the father, Unnikrishnan, into custody after he murdered his child by throwing into a lake.
The baby was the child of Nedumangadu native Chinju and Pachallur native Unnikrishnan. This was Unnikrishnan’s first marriage and Chinju’s second marriage. Police observed that the couple fought regularly with each other and the murder was part of the plan that Unnikrishnan prepared earlier.
The ‘Noolukettu’ ceremony of the child took place on Thursday at Chinju’s parents house. The accused took the baby to Thiruvallom after the ceremony and threw the baby into the river.
It was the mother who filed a complaint with the police after she found the baby missing. Following this police started investigation and interrogated Unnikrishnan. Although he tried to trick the police officers at first, he was trapped by the statement from locals who saw him walking near the lake.
The body of the baby was found by 2 am the next day from the lake and was taken to Thiruvananthapuram medical college.
