Moral policing at Ambalavayal: One in custody, key accused still underground
Kalpetta: One person was taken into custody in the moral policing incident that took place at Ambalavayal in Wayanad district the other day. Kumar, who accompanied the key accused Sajeevanandan at the time of attack and who harassed the woman at the lodge, was taken into custody by the police from Thiruvananthapuram.
The Ambalavayal police will produce Kumar at the station and record his arrest. Kumar is the lodge owner and was along with Sajeevanandan to harass the woman at the lodge.
The police had taken statement from the woman the other day and decided to include Kumar and another person along with Sajeevanandan in the list of accused. The main accused is still underground. The Kalpetta Sessions court will hear his bail application on Thursday.
The Tamil Nadu native couple was beaten up on the road at Ambalavayal in Wayanad. The woman and her husband were staying in a lodge room at Ambalavayal. The accused broke into their room and misbehaved with them. As the couple retaliated, Sajeevanandan created a ruckus. Fearing more trouble, the lodge staff forcefully vacated the couple. As they left the lodge room, Sajeevanandan followed them and attacked them on road.
