Monson complainant files Rs 1.5 cr defamation suit against actor Sreenivasan
Kochi: Anoop V Ahmed, who lodged a complaint against antique fraudster Monson Mavunkal, has come up against actor Sreenivasan filing a legal notice alleging that he called him a fraud during a channel interview.
In the notice, he has demanded a compensation of Rs 1.5 crore.
Meanwhile, the people who complained against Monson Mavunkal, after he reportedly swindled Rs 10 crores from them, alleged that they are facing threat from him. Yakub Purayil, Anoop V Ahmed, M T Shameer and Shanimon Parappan lodged a complaint with the police chief demanding protection.
As per the complaint, they received several threats through phones and social media and many strangers were spotted near their residences. Some of the relatives and acquaintances also pressurised them to withdraw the complaint against Monson Mavunkal. They pointed out in the complaint that they have relocated their family fearing threats.
Earlier, Ernakulam CJM court dismissed the bail plea of Monson in the cases charged for swindling Rs 10 crores from Yakub Purayil and 6 others, and Rs 1.62 crore from Pala native Rajeev offering him 500 acres of coffee plantation on lease.
